The hot thing this year seems to be quality rosé wines because Mary and I are seeing them everywhere. They have always been there in the wine world but most of us had to erase them from our memory due to the horrors of white zinfandel and other "blush" wines.We had a Spanish one at City Hall Diner in Vestavia about two weeks ago - the Marqués de Cáceres Rioja Rosado (rosy/pink/rosé rioja). It should be served medium chilled and will not be sweet (we didn't take notes).

We had a different bottle the other night ... I have to say it looks a bit, uh, silly in the glass. But Blanc de Noir champagne doesn't. The jury's still out.
